Quelle magnifique année ! J'ai l'énorme plaisir d'être exposer pour la quatrième fois en 2019 à la Galerie Penumbra , au Portugal ! De plus, cette exposition collective "How long is forever" a pour thématique un personnage que vous avez déjà vu à plusieurs reprises ici: Alice au pays des merveilles ! 

Le but était d'apporter une vision plus sombre et tourmentée de l'oeuvre de Lewis Carroll. J'ai pour ma part eu envie d'aborder des sujets qui me sont chers et présents dans une très grande partie de mon travail. 
Avez-vous remarquer qu'Alice est toujours jugée par son apparence physique, son corps ? A chaqu'une de ces nouvelles rencontres, son interlocuteur lui dit "Tu n'es pas une petite fille. Les petites filles sont plus grandes, plus petite...." ou bien "Tu n'es pas la vraie Alice. Elle est bien plus ceci ou cela". Elle est malmenée par les fleurs, violentée par le lapin, rabaissée par les jumeaux; ils lui jettent des pierres, des gâteaux... Son seul échappatoire à ces brimades est la nourriture. Pour moi, "Alice au pays des merveilles" est une métaphore du harcèlement (sous différentes formes), et des troubles du comportement alimentaire et de la dépression qui malheureusement en découlent souvent.

What a wonderful year! I'm tremendously happy to see my work exhibited for the fourth time in 2019 at Penumbra Art Gallery in Portugal! And to add more excitement, this "How long is forever" group show is about a character that you often saw here: Alice in Wonderland!

The goal was to bring a darker and tormented vision of the Lewis Carrol book. I choose to focus on something very dear to me and that are present in a large part of my work. Do you noticed that Alice is always judged on her body? Every time she meets someone new, they tell her "You're not a little girl, little girl are taller, smaller..." or "You're not the right Alice. She's much more this or that...". She's bullied by flowers, rabbit, twins; they throw rocks, cupcakes at her... The only way she finds to escape all these harassments is food. "Alice in Wonderland" is for me a metaphor of bullying, and the eating disorders and depression which are caused by it.

The nine lives of Papaye

Je suis très heureuse et fière de vous annoncer que je fait partie de l'exposition collective "Nine lives - The Return of the Cat" qui se tient à partir d'aujourd'hui, en Ecosse, à la Galerie Inverarity .

Pour cet évènement, j'ai choisi un cadre-maison pour accueillir les "Neuf vies de Papaye", un chat "exotic short hair" blanc. Voici l'histoire de ces intrépides vies (de bas en haut et de gauche à droite):

1- L'âge d'or: pendant l'Egypte Antique, Papaye était la déesse Bastet. Elle est ici représentée avec son fils Mihos et protège le petit Pharaon.
2- La malédiction: dans la mythologie indienne, le roi des dieux Indra apparut à Ahalya sous les traits de Papaye et l'a séduisit. Ils furent tout deux maudits par le mari de celle-ci. Le corps de papaye fut recouvert de ce qu'elle avait toujours désiré, ce qui par la suite devient mille yeux.
3- Live fast, ride fast: dans la mythologie nordique, Papaye était la déesse Freyja, conduisant son char tiré par des chats munchkin.
4- Les temps sataniques: au 17ème siècle, dans le Massachusetts colonial, Papaye fut accusée à tort de sorcellerie durant les procès de Salem.
5- L'heure de la revanche: dans le Japon médiéval, Papaye était un Kaibyo et avait soif de revanche.
6- Période enchantée: au 17ème siècle, Mme d'Aulnoy lui écrit son propre conte: "La Chatte Blanche".
7- Le reigne: à Versailles, Papaye était un membre actif du Conseil de Louis XV.
8- La vie d'artiste: Papaye fut le chat favori et la muse de Jean Cocteau.
9- Tout ça pour... ça...

I'm very proud and honored to tell you that I'm part of the "Nine lives - The Return of the Cat" collective exhibition at the Inverarity Gallery, in Scotland, which start today.

For this event, I choose an house-frame to welcome "The nine lives of Papaye", a white exotic short hair cat. Here comes her epic lives (from bottom left to top right):

1. The Golden Age: in Ancient Egypt, Papaye was the goddess Bastet. She's here with her son Mihos and protecting tiny Pharaoh.

2. The cursed life: in Hindu mythology, the king of dogs Indra appeared to Ahalya as Papaye and seduced her. They were both cursed by her husband. Papaye's body was now filled with what what she always sought, which was after turned into thousand eyes.

3. Live fast, ride fast: in Norse mythology , Papaye was the goddess Freyja, driving in the sky her chariot pulled by munchkin cats.

4. The satanic time: in the 17th century, in colonial Massachusetts, Papaye was fealty accused of witchcraft during the Salem witch trials.

5. The revenge life: in ancient Japan, Papaye was a Kaibyo and was thirsty for revenge.

6. Living the dream: in 17th century, Mme d'Aulnoy wrote Papaye her own fairytale: "La Chatte Blanche" ("The white cat")

7. The regnal years: in Versailles, Papaye was an active member of the Court of Louis XV.

8. The "artiste" life: Papaye was the favorite cats of Jean Cocteau and his muse.

9. All those lives for... this...

Drama Queens

C'est un tel plaisir d'être exposer pour la troisième fois cette année à la Galerie Penumbra , au Portugal ! Cette nouvelle exposition, qui s'ouvre le 11 mai, se nomme "A night at the movies v.2" 📽

J'ai choisi de ne pas me concentrer sur mon film préféré (ce qui aurait été bien trop dur à choisir !) mais de rendre au hommage aux grandes actrices qui font le cinéma. J'en ai sélectionner qui m'émeuvent particulièrement: Keira Knightley dans "The Duchess", Carey Mulligan dans "The Great Gatsby", Kirsten Dunst" dans "Marie Antoinette", Vivien Leigh dans "Autant en emporte le vent", Catherine Deneuve dans "Les parapluies de Cherbourg", Audrey Hepburn dans "Sabrina", Claudia Cardinale dans "Il Gattopardo" et Marilyn Monroe dans "Gentlemen prefer blondes".

It's such a delight to see my work exhibited for the third time this year at Penumbra Art Gallery in Portugal! This time is for the "A Night at the movies v.2" show, which will start on May 11th 📽.

I didn't choose to focus on my favorite movie (it would have been impossible to pick just one!) but on the wonderful actresses that move me: Keira Knightley in "The Duchess", Carey Mulligan in "The Great Gatsby", Kirsten Dunst" in "Marie Antoinette", Vivien Leigh in "Autant en emporte le vent", Catherine Deneuve in "Les parapluies de Cherbourg", Audrey Hepburn in "Sabrina", Claudia Cardinale in "Il Gattopardo" and Marilyn Monroe in "Gentlemen prefer blondes".

A Nightmare Within a Nightmare

Je suis très heureuse et fière d'être exposer pour la deuxième fois cette année à la Galerie Penumbra , au Portugal, lors de "A Dream Within a Dream", qui s'ouvre le 16 mars. Cette exposition collective a pour thème la littérature gothique et d'horreur.

Après une longue réflexion j'ai choisi d'approcher ce sujet par le biais du cauchemar. 
"Un cauchemar à l'intérieur d'un cauchemar" n'est pas inspiré d'un roman, d'un livre. Cela parle du mythe aux origines de la littérature gothique; de l'horreur derrière les contes. Cela parle de nos souvenirs cachées, de nos cauchemars les plus enfouies.

I'm very proud and honored to see my work exhibited for the second time this year at Penumbra Art Gallery in Portugal, during the "A Dream Within a Dream" show, which will start on March 16th. The theme is the gothic and horror literature.

After a long period of reflexion I choose to address this subject through the prism of the nightmare.
"A Nightmare Within a Nightmare" is not about one story, one book. This is about the mythology behind the gothic literature; the horror behind the tales. This is about our hidden stories, our deepest nightmares.

Finally, here is my new coloring pages ! 

With your help on Instagram and Facebook, I created not just one but two set of coloring pages! My heart is torn between the Girlfriends of halloween and the Fashion Girlfriends, so I let you decide in which squad you belong!

These two sets are composed of 8 coloring pages, individually mirror of each other. Each theme/draw is offer in Halloween version and in Fashion version.
